One of our shelters in Gallatin currently has 3 lovely ladies and 1 little girl. Would your small group host a small little luncheon for them. It would be such a blessing to them! I had the privilege to visit them this weekend and they really are the nicest woman. During the week or weekend would be fine.

A group of Teenage boys dug a trench to help with water run-off behind a local Shelter home in Gallatin. I have donation to purchase some 3/4 inch rock to put in the trench. I need a few men to wheel barrel or shovel it into the trench before the Spring Rain comes. Trench is 7 inches deep, 30 inches wide and 48 ft long. Willing? Small group? Family with Teenagers? Teen Group?

Paper Shredding

Pony Mailbox and Business Center has offered their place of business for Paper Shredding. They have an industrial machine to shred! I need a few people to help feed the machine of confidential papers from a non-profit local organization. Are you willing? Their hours are:

Saturday January 9th. Need a few extra hands. The Crawford Family has given weeks up to fix a Shelter home in Gallatin. I would love for some people to step up on the last day to help tie all the ends together. This Saturday, even just an hour or two would be a HUGE help. Some tasks that need to be completed:

Cleaning
Painting
Repairing walls
Praying
Organizing

If you, your family, your friends or your small group would like to help out that would be soooooo wonderful. Sports have not started yet so this is a PERFECT opportunity to jump in.

Ummmm I don’t have updated pictures BECAUSE my Camera AND Video Camera fell to the bottom of a 5 gallon bucket of paint at the project. BUT I do know that the commitment to the Lord from these groups was amazing! They were there till midnight finishing the work at the Shelter! I will get up there this week with a borrowed camera and upload pictures soon.

If anyone has an hour or two tomorrow (Tuesday) I need your help and a paint roller! Can you give me an hour of paint time for a shelter. If 5 people gave 1 hour that is 5 less hours one person has to give. E-mail me if you can squeeze a little Serving for Jesus time in this week!

A LHBC Small Group had adopted a Shelter home for the day with their entire families. The are dedicated to cleaning and painting one of the duplex projects. I am overwhelmed with God when I see the outpouring of love from believers. Check back later for “After” pictures.

Paper Shredding Project!

If a family, small group, teen group….etc would love to serve GNM with their paperwork we would be blessed. They have 4 boxes of paperwork that must be shredded. This can be done at my house as a location. What a great time to share testimonies or fellowship over cookies! Bring cookies! Hee hee.

This weekend the Crawford Family came to one of the Shelter homes to help (Duplex). The residence had been abandoned by the occupants the day before and was in need of a cleaning! The house had most of its contents stolen on abandonment so we are dealing with the need to not only repair the shelter but to “stock” it again too. The Crawford family and friend (5) spent the entire day patching walls, replacing trim, fixing floors and doors etc. The good news is….they want to do more! So this is what we need….if you, your small group, or family feels inclined to donate any of these items to the shelter for further repairs we would appreciate.

Adopt a Room!

It’s hard to make the time to come in for a whole day to do a service project, and it is also hard to donate “stuff” or money for a project too in this economy, so I was hoping some groups would consider doing something in-between.

Adopt a Room in a Shelter for a specified period of time (See attached Click Here to see Options). GNM has 2 Shelters. (one is a duplex, so 3 units total). Here is how it works:

A GROUP (maybe a small group, a teen group, a family, a group of friends….) commit to care for a room in the shelter for 1 year. ALL the rooms are currently in very good condition. Your group would evaluate the rooms after a resident leaves the shelter and offers to care for the room before the next resident comes in. This may include paint, restocking missing items, restock pantry ( if kitchen is your adopted room), Hangers (if bedroom is your adopted room), organize…whatever your group prefers to do.

Example: Bathroom. The group/family that adopts it would come in and clean/decorate/restock the bathroom. During the residents stay the group is welcome to bring in any items during their stay too. Most residents stay about 2-3 months a year (some longer, some shorter) so your average service project would be about 4 times a year.

Pick a room that you feel most comfortable with. If you have children (and extra toys) pick the children’s room. If you are past that stage, maybe the Master Bedroom or Kitchen. You get my idea. Please contact me if you would like more information. It is a small committment that could make a HUGE impact. If we all just take a little..it adds up to be a whole lot!
